Cain asked God: “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Are we our brother’s keeper? We the church are called to bring healing, restoration, and justice to our society, to our neighbors, to our city, to our nation, and to the world. We are our brother’s and sister’s keepers. We are called and equipped to speak the truth of God as revealed in Jesus Christ. The message is for all. The cross is for all. The power of the resurrection is for all. Through the Holy Spirit may our mouths be opened to speak out for the hurting, the suffering, the defeated, the defenseless, the despised, the persecuted, and the outcast.
Let us not be tongue-tied when it comes to love. But with our words, thoughts, and deeds, let us love one another as Christ loved us. We know that we abide in Christ’s love and his love abides in us, because he has given us his Spirit.
