I am very excited to announce an important new ministry initiative of SJD called the Summer Seminarian Internship Program. I believe that a parish such as ours should be a leading light for the larger church in the formation of outstanding young clergy. This ten-week ministry will offer seminarians seeking practical congregational and staff experience in a healthy, resourceful parish setting.
Our inaugural season for this ministry will be June 1 through August 7 as we welcome these outstanding young adults into our parish family for the summer. Join me in giving thanks and getting to know Daniel, Yehoshua, Sutton, and Marleigh. We look forward to their gifts and ministry.
The Rev. Dr. R. Leigh Spruill, Rector
Sutton Lowe is originally from Lufkin, TX, and after graduating from Baylor University in 2020, he has been attending Duke Divinity School. Sutton and his wife Marleigh met at Baylor, and they now live in Durham, NC. They are passionate about Tex-Mex, being outdoors, and meaningful conversations.
Daniel is a born and bred Arkansan coming down from a year of studies at Wycliffe College (Toronto, ON) and pursuing ordination to the priesthood in The Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. He is a graduate of Beeson Divinity School (Birmingham, AL) and John Brown University (Siloam Springs, AR). Preaching, evangelism, and discipleship are among the aspects of ministry that most excite him. Outside school and ministry, Daniel loves food and wine, having spent six years serving in fine dining. He is always looking for the next restaurant recommendation.
Yehoshua Olufemi Odidi is a priest with the Anglican Diocese of Kaduna in Northern Nigeria and has been in the USA for just over a year working on an MDiv program with the prestigious Nashotah House Theological Seminary. He loves meeting new people and trying out new things (that makes him a little adventurous). He also loves God’s people and his Church. His greatest joy is being able to be an instrument of encouragement and a source of edification to the Church.
