SJD Worship Ministry Opportunities
Please call the church at 713-622-3600 for more information on any of the following:
Acolytes are youth from 6th-12th grade who are specially trained to assist the clergy in worship services. Acolytes carry the processional cross, torches, and banners, and assist with Communion and other aspects of the worship service.
Chalice Bearers are small groups of parishioners who have been chosen to support the clergy in this particular way. Clergy and sacristans present a list of names to the bishop who, upon review, licenses these parishioners to become part of the central aspect of Anglican worship - Holy Communion - by distributing the wine to the members of the body of Christ at the Eucharist.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers take consecrated bread elements to serve communion to the homebound.
Lay Readers are trained to conduct Morning and Evening Prayer services.
Lectors read the lessons at worship services.
Worship Leaders lead the daily morning prayer and evening prayer services in the chapel.
