Jesus is The Word and We Know Him Through Scripture
Welcome to our next Bible reading plan for St. John the Divine. Over the next nine months, we will explore God's Word together, looking at how God makes himself known to us in scripture. When we look at scripture through the "lens" of Jesus, we find that he is revealed to us in both the Old and New Testaments.
Our reading plan will include daily Bible readings with a short introduction and closing prayer sent by email Monday through Friday. We will begin our plan in the Old Testament, starting September 11 and ending November 24. Then we will read the beginnings of Matthew and Luke in the season of Advent as we begin to follow the liturgical year in the life of Jesus, focusing on the four gospels, ending our reading plan at Pentecost.
If you are interested on teaching on the Knowing The Word reading plan, The Rev. Reagan Cocke will be teaching on these readings in his Thursday noontime Bible study in Room 201, beginning September 14 and Men's Life will also cover the reading plan starting September 12 at 6:30 am in the Hall Life Center.
