An elderly women walked up to me at the NRG shelter and asked if there were any air mattresses available. She had degenerative back issues and the hard cot was preventing her from sleeping. She had given her air mattress to the women sleeping next to her who had lost both legs from the knee down.

We asked around and of course no air mattresses were to be found. So, I called the Target close by and asked them to see if they had any left. No surprise, they were out. I couldn't stop thinking about it until I finally decided I needed to go to Target to see for myself.

I stumbled upon an empty, desolate shelf with ONE air mattress that had 'weathered' the storm. You can't make this stuff up! I hustled back to NRG and went to meet her with it. She had disappeared to the prayer room on the premises. She was praying for an air mattress and boy did she get one! Needless to say, we're both getting a good night's sleep.

And the lesson learned, give more always.
